Text: Ruth 1:1-7

Memory Verse:“Now it came to pass, in the days when the Judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons” (Ruth 1:1).

Nigeria is in a state of famine. Very many people have migrated in Nsearch of greener pastures. More are still in the process of doing so, but the question is, “What is God telling you?” (Proverbs 3:5-7). Elimelech decided to leave Bethlehem, Judah, with his entire family at the time a famine occurred. What happened, eventually, was that He lost his life and those of his two sons; only his wife survived. The relocation did not seem to have worked in their favour (Ruth 1:3-5).

Yes, a time of famine is not palatable. It is a time of acute insufficiency of food, bringing untold hardship upon people. This is not about not migrating, but you must trust God to lead you. As a child of God, He expects you to place your confidence in Him and not on what the world system is saying or doing. In times like this, migrating should not be the first option.

As a child of God, it is key to hear Him out. If only Elimelech had sought God before migrating, He would have ministered to him what plans He had for his family, whether to move or not, and the calamity would not have befallen them. God knows and sees all things. In Psalm 33:19, He promises to keep you alive in the time of famine. He is aware of all that the nation is passing through and has gone ahead to make provisions. Do not be afraid, God is in charge.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, help me to trust in You.
2. Lord, in any way I have missed it, please re-direct my ways.
