Mark 4:35-39

Memory Verse:
“On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, ‘Let us cross over to the other side.’ Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him” (Mark 4:35&36).

Life is a journey and like every journey, has its ups and downs. The success or otherwise of life’s journey depends on who is travelling with you. Jesus had given instructions as to the next phase of His assignment. He wanted to go to the other side of the sea. Thankfully, the disciples did not travel alone, though they were oblivious of the danger that laid ahead. The sons of the
prophet, also, though unaware of the challenge that they would encounter, invited Elisha to go with them (2 Kings 6:1-3). The sailors in Jonah’s boat thought they were on their usual trip across the sea. They did not know their co-traveler was trouble (Jonah 1:3-6).
In view of life’s uncertainties, do you know who you are travelling with? Are you well insured against any eventualities? Just as taking out an insurance policy cushions you against the unexpected, having Jesus, the Sustainer of life, travel with you gives confidence that all will be well. That life will experience some turbulence or storms is a given that only the wise prepares for. With Jesus in your boat, you will be able to say what Moses said to Hobab, “Come with us,… The Lord has promised good things to Israel.” God has good plans for you and He is always with you. Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;…” His promises are dependable. Be wise. Invite Him on your life’s journey. It is dangerous to journey without Him.

Prayer Points:
1. I have been foolish travelling alone, Lord; please come into my heart and life’s journey.
2. I am glad that I have You in my boat, Lord.
