Text:
Genesis 3:1-10
Memory Verse:
“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, ‘Where
are you?’” (Genesis 3:9).
This question speaks about the position of man. The importance of the question God asked Adam here is not one of accusation, but one that calls attention to the responsibility given to man. God gave Adam a job description in Genesis 2:15 and tied it to a location but, after the fall of man,
that changed. In fact, if Adam had been at his place of primary assignment, it would have been more difficult for the serpent to deceive Eve. Man was not only missing in his original location but failed to carry out his assignment. This was why God asked the question.
Many men are missing in their primary locations and are failing in their responsibilities. What are the things that the Lord has committed into your hands and where is your divine location? This is the question every man must answer and be truthful with himself because his response can either bring liberty or condemnation.
From the story of how Benjamin was born (Genesis 35:16-18), we can see a man named Jacob who was present at his duty post as a father and a husband. If he had not been there, Benjamin would have been named Benoni, meaning ‘son of my sorrow’, but his father changed it to ‘son of my right hand’ with his authority. Every location and responsibility comes with an authority.
Beloved, where are you in God’s plans? Are you doing the will of your King or your own will? Are you at the right location? Respond to God today.
Prayer Points:
1. Ask for God’s mercy in any way you have failed in your responsibilities and have neglected your duty post.
2. Lord, help me identify my rightful location and responsibilities, so I can fulfil them.
