Text: Esther 8: 10-17

Memory Verse: “So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, with a great crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad” (Esther 8:17).

The beautiful climax of the story of Haman and the Jews in the book of Esther is a testament of the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, God over Satan. It is reminiscent of Ron Kenoly’s song “Mourning into Dancing”, part of which lyrics read:
He’s turned my mourning into dancing again, He’s lifted my sorrow And I can’t stay silent; I must sing for His joy has come… God perfectly turned the table around such that a people appointed for
annihilation (Jews) by the evil plot of the enemy (Haman) became not only liberated, but were given the necks of all their enemies for destruction. What a good God we serve. What a sweet kind Saviour He is. How sweet it is to trust in Him and to take Him at His word. His faithfulness is everlasting.

What He did for the Jews in Shushan, He had previously done for the Israelites against Pharaoh and his horsemen and chariots in the Red Sea (Exodus 14:15- 31). He later did the same for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego against the Babylonians that wanted them dead in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:8-30); and Daniel against the same evil Babylonians that planned for his death in the lions’
den (Daniel 6).
God defends the righteous and takes vengeance on the wicked. For the above people, He turned their mourning into dancing. So, child of God, whatever threat you are undergoing from the enemy, rest assured that God will deliver and avenge you.

Prayer Points:
1. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness in defending the righteous and taking vengeance on the wicked.
2. Lord, defend me from every enemy of my soul, and turn my mourning into joy.
