Text: Matthew 25:1-10

Memory Verse: “And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut” (Matthew 25:10).

Metaphorically, doors are choices we make on a daily basis. Life offers Mus myriads of doors of opportunity – good, bad, difficult, andsometimes exciting. You either walk in or turn around and walk away. It takes decisiveness, determination and action; only you can decide on what action to take.
The decision you make in respect of any or all of these doors of opportunity have a strong effect on your future. Some people, instead of patiently allowing the Lord to open the door and direct them accordingly, out of impatience get caught in a revolving door, spinning dizzily, and getting nowhere. Not all open doors lead to the right destination. Many people jump at an open door, only to discover it is a dead end.
Nothing, however, is more expensive than a missed opportunity. Esau, because of a misplaced priority, denied himself the opportunity of receiving his father’s blessing (Hebrews 12:16-17). The worst feeling is regretting not having done something when you had the chance. The five foolish virgins, out of carelessness, lost the opportunity of joining in the wedding feast because they
did not take extra oil with them (Matthew 25:3).

Doors of opportunities are a good chance for progress and advancement. But you will not know unless you open the door. So, when opportunity comes knocking, be ready to answer the door. Jesus stands at the door of your heart knocking, step out in faith to answer (Revelation 3:20).

Prayer Points:
1. Gracious God, grant me the grace to correctly discern the door of opportunity opened for me.
2. Help me, Lord, never to miss opportunities and help me to recover missed ones.
