Text:
Psalm 56:1-7
Memory Verse:
“Shall they escape by iniquity? In anger cast down the peoples, O God!” (Psalm 56:7).
Whenever enemies gather to mock God’s children, rejoice over their misfortune or reproach their God, God is always provoked and He steps into the situation, not just to deliver His children but,
more importantly, to protect His name and word. At a time in the land of Israel, Samson was captured, blinded, bound with fetters and sent into the prison house. Few days later, the high and mighty of the Philistines gathered and began to celebrate his misfortune. Samson’s prayer and the enemies’ reproach provoked God to arise in anger and strengthened him with His Spirit. Consequently, when Samson pushed the two pillars of the temple, “… the temple fell on the lords and all the people who were in it” (Judges 16:30b).
To provoke God to arise, Samson, though degraded and incapacitated, opened his mouth and sought His assistance. “Then Samson called to the LORD, saying, ‘O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray! Strengthen me, I pray, just this once, O God, that I may with one blow take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes!’” (Judges 16:28). Indeed, when we pray, God is always moved to
rescue us. To command the presence of God, you should learn to sing praises to His name (Acts 16:25&26).
None that trust the Holy one of Israel has ever been put to shame. Psalm 34:22 says“The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.” If you are born again and living right before God, your enemies automatically become God’s enemies, and when God arises on your behalf, your enemies will be scattered.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, arise and put my enemies to flight.
2. O Lord, my Father, annul every unrighteous decrees written against me and my family
