John 12:20-22
Memory Verse:
“Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, ‘Sir, we wish to see Jesus’”(John 12:21).
Greg hurried along. He needed to catch Alice before she left for work. It was important that she introduce him to her brother who was the head teacher. He desperately needed his recommendation to get the position he wanted. The Greeks also wanted to meet Jesus, the preacher they had heard so much about. Perhaps He would be able to shed more light on this new way. Being
Gentiles, they needed a guide and so they approached Philip, a Jew, who bore a Greek name. Philip reached out to Andrew and together they approached Jesus.
People usually reach out to anyone they are comfortable with in their search for answers and help. The attraction might be a show of concern, race, familiarity, profession, age, gender etc. Andrew reached out to his brother, Simon, after meeting Jesus the first time. Philip made himself available to the Ethiopian Eunuch and so, the latter’s questions were directed at him (Acts 8: 29-38).
Today, people still want to see Jesus because they have questions about things they have read in the Bible and need clarification about. They may have tried other things and wonder if Jesus has the solution to their problems. They need your attention and help. Can they count on your knowledge and insight? Do you have time to explain the word of God to them? Do you love them or care
enough to give them time? Helping such people is not always easy or quick. You will need to pray, teach, counsel and, maybe, give your resources as you try to assist. Are you available?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please make me sensitive to the needs of people around me.
2. May I be an extension of Your love, O Lord.
