Text:
1 Samuel 16:1-5
Memory Verse:
“And Samuel said, how can I go, if Saul hears it, he will kill me. And the Lord said, take a heifer with you, and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord’” (1 Samuel 16:2).
Prayer is an act of communing with God. Through prayer fear is diffused. When you pray, the LORD hears, arises and takes charge. He directs by way of instruction through a witness in your spirit, an audible voice, through the scriptures, through revelation by men of God or any
other means He chooses to. Samuel was afraid of the derailed King Saul, who was ready to crush anything on his way to retain his kingship, even though he had fallen out of favour with
and been rejected by God. He told God exactly how he felt and God provided an answer. God will not allow Saul to truncate His plan. As long as we are in this perverse and chaotic world, we will have reasons to fear. We must confront our fears with prayer, just like Samuel. The Holy Spirit will strengthen us. Is it a doctor’s report? Fear not, that is a scientific fact, not the truth. After the death of Moses, God saw the overwhelming challenge before Joshua. He came to reassure him of His help, but told him that he would need to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:7).
God’s help is readily available when we tell him exactly how it is with us. Call on him today. Present your fears and challenges. He will help you because Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33). Tell yourself repeatedly that God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Prayer Points:
1. Father, please help me to overcome all my fears.
2. Lord, I believe in Your ability to help me.
