Text: John 21:1-7

Memory Verse: “Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord!’” (John 21:7a).

The disciples had just had a major setback. They had left everything to follow Jesus in the new direction He was leading them, but now He was gone. Their daily routine while with Him had been disrupted and they were at a crossroad, perhaps not knowing what to do. It was, therefore, easy for the six of them to agree with Simon Peter’s suggestion to go back to the life they knew. Besides, life, though confusing at that moment, had to continue
somehow. So the seven of them went back to fishing.

How often have you been at a crossroad, disappointed, and how have you navigated the terrain? Cleopas, one of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus said, “But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel” (Luke 24:21a). When life happens and throws the unexpected at you, what do
you do? Do you recognise God’s presence with you? Cleopas did not, but John
did in John 21:7a.
God has promised never to leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) and so, even in the most difficult circumstances, look out. The Lord is near. He will guide and redirect you, if need be. Be sensitive to His presence, instructions and
directions. Pray and watch out, as you may need spiritual discernment to understand what He is saying to you. Do not be overwhelmed by your thoughts and prevailing circumstances. The Lord is near. Recognise His presence in your situation.

Prayer Points:
1. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, I want to see You.
2. Lead and guide me, Lord.
