Righteous Living Is A Choice

Text:
1 Peter 3:8-12; Romans 6:16

Memory Verse:
“For he who would love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit” (1 Peter 3:10).

God created human beings and allows us to choose whatever we desire to do; it may be good or bad. God is aware that on our own we cannot always make the right choice, hence, He expects us to involve Him in our choice of daily activities.
To live a righteous life will, therefore, require a proper choice as directed by the Holy Spirit. God has made a personal commitment to help us: “I will Instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will guide you with my eyes” (Psalm 32:8). To qualify and enjoy this promise, however, your life must fit into the first two verses of this same chapter. “Blessed is he whose transgression is
forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit” (Psalm 32:1&2). To live a righteous life, you must do the following:
Be dead to sin.
Put off (away) all these – anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Set your affection on things above, put on bowels of mercies, do not live for what money can buy. Obey the word of God.
Today we are having too many problems in the world – in every continent, country and location – because many people have deviated from living
righteous lives into living a careless and an “I don’t care” type of life. Choose to live right today!

Prayer Points:
1. Help me, Holy Spirit, to always choose righteousness.
2. Holy Spirit, please help me to follow Your lead always.
