Text: Esther 3:2-10
Memory Verse: “And all the king’s servants, who were within the king’s gate bowed and paid homage to Haman. For so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage” (Esther 3:2).
In Esther 3, Haman, the mortal enemy of the Jews, received a decree from the king of the Persian Empire to destroy the Jews. His reason was because Mordecai refused to compromise his faith and bow to him. Even in a strange land, Mordecai took his faith with him. Sometimes some of us do not take our faith with us, so when we are under pressure, we surrender to the dictates of the situation. We do whatever compromise the situation calls for. No! That should not be.
We are expected to be the light of the world anywhere we go. In any circumstance you find yourself you ought to let everyone know that you are a believer. Even as a captive in a strange land Mordecai refused to bow to any god, except the living God. As a child of God you are supposed to live as one, irrespective of where you find yourself. The scripture declares that, “we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people… to show forth His praise” (1 Peter 2:9-10).
Anywhere you find yourself, God intends that you should function in such a way that proclaims His glory. At times, you would suffer for your faith, but that should not make you turn your back on God. The fact that you are going
through challenges does not mean that God has abandoned you. He is always there with you.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please help me to stand boldly against the wiles of the devil.
2. Lord, help me to take my faith anywhere I go.
