Text: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10
Memory Verse: “And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Weaknesses here are those limitations and inabilities that God intentionally allows in us to keep us grounded and dependent on Him. Paul highlights his privileges and spiritual experiences, but he also mentions a “thorn in the flesh”, a weakness permitted by God to keep him humble. All heroes of faith had their weaknesses, and so do we. Moses, for example, struggled with stammering.
These limitations are not mistakes. God allows them for important reasons: First, so that we may depend more on Him than on our talents, strength, or intellect. Our abilities can only take us so far, but when we rely on God, we soar on His wings. Second, our weaknesses keep us on our knees and push us into deeper fellowship with Him. They remind us that we are not self-sufficient. Third, they protect us from pride. Paul wrote, “To keep me from becoming
proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh…” (2 Corinthians 12:7, NLT). God uses our flaws to cultivate humility. Fourth, our weaknesses build Christian character and deepen our worship. They cause us to acknowledge God’s strength in our insufficiency.
Paul prayed three times for the thorn to be removed, but God replied, My grace is all you need. “My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Do not let your weaknesses stop you from fulfilling God’s purpose. Let Him turn your limitations into testimonies that glorify Him. His grace is enough.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I thank You, for choosing me in spite of my weaknesses, limitations and inadequacies.
2. Please work through my limitations/weaknesses for Your own glory.
