Ezekiel 33:1-10

Memory Verse:
“So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me” (Ezekiel 33: 7).

Ezekiel was called by God to be a “watchman” for the house of Israel (Ezekiel 3:17). In the ancient days, watchmen walked the walls of cities in order to spot any enemy or hostile action against the city. The watchman’s responsibility was to see correctly and warn. He was to warn by blowing the whistle or trumpet which must not give a discordant sound. He must differentiate between false alarm and real danger. They were also to give word to the king of any person approaching the city wall (2 Samuel 18:24-27).
A watchman must be loyal, faithful, observant, vigilant, alert, spiritually sensitive, and disciplined (Isaiah 56:10-11). He must not be careless but watchful, effectively manning his duty post. He must, without delay, inform the people of the impending danger. Every believer is saved to serve. He is commissioned to preach the gospel. He must proclaim the message in season and out of season, and must correctly preach the true and wholesome gospel. The preacher is to blow a certain and
sure sound. He must deliver the right message – repentance from sin, accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour, and having an intimate relationship with Him.
God uses people to preach the gospel. He has been consistently looking for faithful watchmen. He can use you to change the course of your nation for good, only be willing and obedient. As a watchman, you must not be distracted, you must be focused and sensitive in the spirit. Are you a
dependable watchman?

Prayer Points:
1. God, help me to remain a faithful watchman.
2. Heavenly Father, I receive the grace to deliver the right message.
