Philippians 1:19-26
Memory Verse:
“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
Jesus is the pathway, the truth and the life (John 14:6). He is the only link to God for the salvation of mankind and whoever dwells in Him will have everlasting life. Apostle Paul affirmed his faith and courage in Christ to the Philippians.
Living in Jesus gives an assurance of peace and eternal life which is worth sacrificing any earthly desires for. God Himself confirmed the importance of this to humanity by releasing Jesus for our salvation, thereby giving us the hope of everlasting life (John 3:16).The great task of salvation was committed to Jesus and He, releasing Himself and being humble to the point of death is an indication of perseverance and great determination. Paul explained this to the Philippians, encouraging them to stand firm in faith even in times of adversity (Philippians 1:29).
Some of the martyrs such as Stephen, who was stoned and died for the truth paid the supreme price, yet, they stood their ground. Even in the face of intense tribulations and trials, Stephen preferred to die in Christ than to betray His master, Jesus.
Are you ashamed of identifying with Christ? Or are you afraid of the persecutions attached to being a believer? Mark 8:36 says “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Your soul is more important than anything. Guard your heart and resolve to stand firm in and for Christ, no matter the circumstances.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to constantly do Your will.
2. Father, build my confidence and faith in You.
