Text: 2 Timothy 3:10-15
Memory Verse: “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2Timothy 3:12).
Many winds of doctrine are flying around today. Unless one understands what true Christianity is, one could be easily swept away. This is not surprising because Satan, knowing that his time is short, is working overtime to drag as many souls as possible to hell. One of his tactics is to offer a counterfeit Christianity, a version that promises pleasure without pain, comfort without sacrifice, and blessings without persecution.
This “soft gospel” appeals to human nature. After all, no one naturally desires suffering, and everyone loves comfort. Unfortunately, many believers, even while witnessing, are not helping the situation. We often present Christ as a quick fix for all of life’s problems, claiming, “Just surrender to Jesus, and all your troubles will disappear.” But that is not the gospel Christ preached.
The truth is clear from Scripture. Jesus said, “In this world you will have tribulation” (John 16:33). Surely, persecution is guaranteed for every true child of God. The moment you give your life to Christ, Satan initiates a relentless “Pull him down” programme against you. His goal is to make you stumble and, ultimately, miss heaven.
The Scripture tells us not to be shaken by afflictions, because we are appointed for it! Trials are, therefore, not anomalies for the believer. That’s why James 1:2 encourages us to “count it all joy” when we face various trials. So, stand firm, child of God. This journey is not without pain, but it ends in eternal glory.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, give me grace to withstand and overcome any tribulation You allow to come my way.
2. Lord, may I not be swept away by the fake winds of doctrine flying around.
