Text: Matthew 22:1-10
Memory Verse: “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy’” (Matthew 22:8).

Receiving an invitation to an occasion is an honour. The king regarded his invited guests as worthy of this privilege, but they rejected it, proving themselves unworthy. Their dishonour led to severe consequences.

Christ came to His own, but they rejected Him. However, those who received Him were granted the honour of sonship. Even in His hometown, Jesus was unable to do great works because the people despised Him. God has declared that He will honour those who honour Him (1 Samuel 2:30b). The door of Noah’s ark was not open forever and those who missed it perished in the floods (Genesis 7:13,16, 23).

If Christ has been presented to you and you refused to accept Him, the call to repent will continue until the door is closed; you then forfeit the honour of eternity with God. If you disregard the leading and instructions of the Holy Spirit day by day, you make yourself unworthy of divine honour. Just as if you neglect the ethical standards of your profession or fail to respect the position you hold, you dishonour the responsibility entrusted to you and will be disciplined. Even so, not living a holy life required by God has dire consequences.

Are you engaging in lifestyles that do not attract honour from God and men? Remember the guest without a wedding robe that was commanded to be taken out of the wedding ground because his life was not synced with the standard
required of the guests (Matthew 22:11-13).

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, have mercy on me for every disregard I have done to Your word.
2. I ask for grace to live a life of honour.
