Text: Acts 3:1-5
Memory Verse: “who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, ‘Look at us’” (Acts 3:3 & 4).
The hymn by Frances R. Havergal says, “I gave My life for You, My precious blood I shed, That you might ransomed be, and quickened from the dead; I gave My life for you, What have you done for Me?” God has done so much for you, giving you His very best. To be sure you are on the right path, you must consciously ask yourself what you are doing for Him in return. There are different ways in which you can serve Him, but it must be a heartfelt total commitment. He will guide you each time, if you ask Him.
Obadiah, in the course of his official duties as a wicked king’s aide, protected God’s interest in 1 Kings 18:4. Others have become full time missionaries and ministers. What are you doing for God? Are you willing to be interrupted like Peter and John? People must be prioritised over plans and comfort. Do you embrace and respect God’s timing?
Do you argue with God’s prompting or do you allow God’s grace and mercy to speak through you? You need discernment to understand what He is saying. Touching lives takes looking outside yourself and your needs. Do you pay attention to the needs of others? It takes a changed heart to be more accommodating. Peter and John could not benefit anything from the lame man, yet they gave him their attention. Their act of kindness opened up the
man to receive the gospel. You can be kind too.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, thank You for all that You have done and are doing for me.
2. What would You have me do for You, Lord?
