Text:
1 Peter 3:1-7
Memory Verse:
“Let your adornment… be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God”(1 Peter 3:3&4).
A changed life speaks loudly and clearly. It is often the most effective way to have a positive influence on family members, friends, colleagues, neighbours and the public at large. It is obvious for people to see.
In 1 Peter 3, Apostle Peter instructed Christian wives to develop an inner beauty rather than being overly concerned about their outward appearance. Thus, their unbelieving husbands would be won by their love and character rather than by their looks. Our lifestyles should reflect the glory of God. We should not be obsessed with fashion. Let not our adorning be that of an outward adorning. Rather, let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God of great price. True beauty begins from the inside. This is what will make people want to follow Jesus Christ. Every true child of God needs to show forth this virtue. Are you fond of ostentatious living? How is your lifestyle: dressing,
conversation, attitude etc.? What is the message from your life? Paul, in 1 Timothy 4:12,enjoins Timothy, his spiritual son, to be an example of believers in all aspects of life. Similarly, Paul admonished Titus, in Titus 2:7&8, that in all things he should show himself a pattern of good works. Is your life reflecting that of Jesus Christ? If not, adjust your ways.
Prayer Points:
1. Ask God for the grace to live a life that does not contradict the gospel.
2. Pray that God will help you to be daily transformed into His image.
