Text: Luke 5:1-10
Memory Verse: “But Simon answered and said to Him, ‘Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless, at Your word I will let down the net’” (Luke 5:5).
Everyone has one challenge or the other in life that constitutes a story that needs to be told. It could be about money, in-laws, profession/vocation, ministry or even family issues. The story of Simon Peter and his fellow fishermen has been told several times, yet we have many lessons to learn from it. Imagine that seasoned fishermen who worked from 6pm to 6am (for that is the time that fishes come to the surface of the water) caught nothing? No fish to sell in the fish market? What story would they tell their wives and children?
The first verse of one popular song says:
Are you weary? Are you heavy hearted?
Tell it to Jesus, Tell it to Jesus;
Are you grieving over joys departed?
Tell it to Jesus alone.”
Those who told their bitter story to Jesus had solutions. Blind Bartimaeus; the man at the pool of Bethsaida; the Syrophoenician woman; the Centurion; and Simon Peter, the fisherman, to mention a few, told their stories to Jesus and they got solutions to their problems. Irrespective of the hard times in the land, it is not time to grumble, murmur or complain. It is time to cry to the Almighty God. Do not forget that a closed mouth is a closed destiny. Rise up today and cry to Jesus. Back up your cry with appropriate action and it shall be well with you. Be assured that your tomorrow shall be better and not bitter.
Prayer Points:
1. Dear Lord, let all my problems receive divine solutions.
2. Father, turn every bitter story of mine into testimony.
