Text: Genesis 3:8-11
Memory Verse: “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden” (Genesis 3:8).
here you are at any time matters to God. You are expected to be at Wthe place of your assignment. As a believer, you are a watchman, watching over the city and the people for God (Ezekiel 33:2-4). Adam was instructed to keep the garden and obey God’s instructions, but he failed. When the Lord called him, he was hiding, having abandoned God’s presence.
More often than not, many Christians abandon their place of assignment and get entangled in worldly affairs. The purpose of your life is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism, Christian character, lifestyle, prayer,
acting as salt and shining as light. Wherever you find yourself – in the office, school, market, business arena or neighbourhood, you should be at your duty post as Christ’s ambassador.
Abandoning your duty post has consequences. Adam left God’s presence in disobedience and suffered for it. David left his duty post and fell into the sin of adultery and was severely punished (2 Samuel 11:1-4); King Saul was expected to wait for the man of God, but took up the prophet’s role and he fell (1 Samuel 13:8-10). Remember that the coming of Jesus Christ is imminent. It is very important that He meets you at the right place. When He returns, where will you be? When He calls you, where will He find you? May you not be found in darkness. Live your life in righteousness to please the Lord.
