Genesis 11:1-9

Memory Verse:
“And they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth’” (Genesis 11:4).

Kain used the anonymous loan he received to build a successful hotel empire. He was, however, still bitter about the bank’s decision and was determined not only to ‘show them’, but also to destroy Abel and his bank, if he could. His bitterness drove him to this evil determination and he
executed it. He realised too late that he probably would never have made it without Abel. “We could have been friends”, he lamented, on reading the note written years before and stating Abel’s belief in him. It was too late. The people blessed by God with one language, could only think of how to build a tower to reach heaven and make a name for themselves! They had no thoughts about how to love, please or honour God. Their warped decision had dire consequences. Lucifer, a much loved and respected angel also fell from grace to grass as a result of a selfish and self-centred decision
(Ezekiel 28:17&18).
Loving God deeply will lead to you being completely sold out to Him and desiring to please Him as you make decisions. Do you love God and does He have the right place in your decision making? “Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against you” was a decision taken by one who loved God and wanted to please Him (Psalm 119:11).
Do not give room for regret. Now is the time to decide to love and live for God. Tomorrow might be too late and the consequences will be for eternity.

Prayer Points:
1. Forgive me for trying to live my way, O God.
2. I re-dedicate myself and life to loving You, Lord.
