Text:
1 Samuel 30:1-8
Memory Verse:
“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6).
Discouragement means loss of confidence or enthusiasm. Discouragement can make you take silly steps and decisions. Never take any important decision when you are discouraged. You may
regret it later. David was discouraged, but he remembered to encourage himself in the Lord.
It was after he encouraged himself that help came for him. The Syrian king sent soldiers after Elisha to know where he was hiding. He was not discouraged after several attempts and disappointment. Whenever you are discouraged, look up to heaven for help. God will surely come through for you. You might not even feel like praying, but try to give God intense praise and see
help coming your way. We can pray amiss, but we cannot praise amiss.
Whatever the condition you might be passing through, remember He saw the Israelites through the Red Sea and also saw them through the wilderness. Surely, help will come for you. A popular song says “There will be joy in the morning, there will be joy in the morning, O child of God, cry no more, there will be joy in the morning”.
You are assured of victory, if only you can keep your doors permanently shut against unwanted guests like discouragement. Be sure you are in the right tune with the Holy Spirit. Rid yourself of all unrighteousness and let your hope be built on nothing else, but on the precious blood of Jesus and His righteousness. Our God is awesome, He works in miraculous ways.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me not to give the devil a chance in my life.
2. My faith looks up to You, Lamb of Calvary.
