Freedom With Restrictions

Text:
Galatians 5:1,13-16

Memory Verse:
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5: 13).

Freedom is the condition of being free to act, speak, or think without extremely imposed restraint. It is also called immunity. In as much as freedom seems like an endless opportunity to do what one likes, it is bordered by law. Thus, you cannot go out of the limits that the law gives.
Every child thirsts for freedom, which is regulated by the parents at varying stages of development. The freedom accorded to a child determines the kind of friends the child keeps, the kind of life the child lives, the places he or she goes to, the time he or she goes out and comes in, the things the child can access and many more. Finally, when the child gets to a certain age he or she is given total
freedom of choice. Nevertheless because of the way the child was brought up he or she would either go astray or fall in line.
Apostle Paul admonishes that though we have been set free from the bondage of sin and made free born in Christ, we should exercise our freedom in line with the dictates of God’s instructions and not based on fleshly desires. Some of these instructions are living soberly in righteousness, walking in the spirit so as not to fulfil the lust of the flesh, living in moderation and not going out of the
restrictions given by God (Galatians 5:16). Bearing this in mind, check yourself if you are still within the borders of God’s instructions. If not, return to Him and, by His grace, live within the limits of His freedom.

Prayer Points:
1. I surrender my all to You, dear Father.
2. Help me, Lord, to live in line with Your dictates.
