Text:
1 John 4:7-16
Memory Verse:
“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
There are too many people who work against themselves. All they see Tabout themselves is the negative- “’I’m sick’, ‘my children are not doing well’, ‘I’m overweight’, ‘I am not good enough’, ‘nothing is working well’, ‘God is not pleased with me’, ‘Will I make heaven?’”.
You need to realise that it is dangerous to step into that negative trap. The Bible says that God has already loved and accepted you. It does not say God loves and accepts you as long as you have a perfect life. It says you are loved unconditionally just as you are. It is not because of what you have or what you have not done. He loves you because of who He is. His nature is love. God is love. Yes, but it is not a licence to sin or remain in sin. You need to let go of all the condemnation and guilt that cannot measure up to His standard. It is by His grace alone, that you can please Him (Ephesians 2:8). When you come to Christ as you are, He cleanses you from all your sins, guilt
and condemnation. He makes you a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). He then puts His righteousness, the grace to become righteous and be in right standing with Him upon you, and gives you abundant life. The enemy does not want you to understand you have been made righteous, but God wants you to have the consciousness of being righteous. Start believing and dwelling on this fact that He has accepted you as His beloved and you are forgiven.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, thank You for forgiving me.
2. Lord, help me to stop focusing on negativity and start focusing on Your love for me.
